MasTec Civil is currently hiring for a Quality Control (QC) Technician.
A Quality Control Technician for roadway and bridge construction plays a crucial role in ensuring that construction projects meet quality and safety standards.
The QC Technician is responsible for inspecting civil, structural, and piping work as per the instructions and guidance provided by senior staff. They are also responsible for monitoring and documenting the daily events of contractors and subcontractors and notifying supervisors of any issues that may affect the project. The QC Technician must also inspect materials to ensure they conform to the plans and specifications.
ResponsibilitiesWork with QC Manager and/or senior level inspector and/ or field engineer to learn how to perform QC inspections and prepare required records/reports in compliance with requirements.
Performs: a. inspections; b. audits to ensure compliance with QC requirements and plans . Material inspections for earthwork by means of densities using the nuclear density testing method. Concrete inspection and testing.
Complete required forms for testing materials on computer/ iPad .
Learn QC Program and applicable codes for discipline assigned.
Monitoring and documenting contractor and subcontractor daily events
May perform general administrative and recordkeeping duties for the department.
Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction.
All employees are required to maintain a safe working space and shall point out any unsafe conditions they encounter .
Minimum of 2 years of experience in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection
High School diploma or equivalent
Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with engineers, foremen and managers to address concerns and improve processes, good communication skills
Math & Computer Skills including entering test data into FDOT MAC database system, using spreadsheets and filling out daily reports and timesheets.
Position will include some night, holiday, and weekend work, and qualified candidates must be willing to work as-needed on these occasions
This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing
Good Driving Record and safety practices. Mandatory basic construction safety training will be offered.
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License
CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection
CTQP Concrete Field Technician
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
Understanding of basic math and print interpretation.
Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Familiar with plan reading
Familiar with the use of computer/iPad for required FDOT materials acceptance testing.
Monitoring and documenting contractor and subcontractor daily events
Compensation
Salary $22 - $26 / hour, commensurate with experience, paid weekly.
