This role offers a unique opportunity to blend your in-depth legal knowledge with communication and analytical skills, while contributing to enhancements in legal billing systems. You will be leveraging technology, including artificial intelligence for innovation, ensuring that clients receive unmatched operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct expert peer reviews of legal invoices within the Legal Bill Analysis Center of Excellence (LBACOE).
  • Verify compliance of invoice entries with legal billing guidelines and UTBMS task codes.
  • Resolve appeals through professional legal expert-to-expert written communications to achieve mutually agreeable resolutions.
  • Manage escalated law firm appeals, including appeals mediation processes, drafting summaries, and attending resolution conferences.
  • Support data analysis for managements performance metric collection and verification.
  • Provide expert feedback to AI teams for improving their machine learning tools.
  • Collaborate with your team to interpret ambiguous billing guideline cases and resolve judgment calls effectively.

Requirements

  • Must be within a 50-mile radius of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.
  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Solid command of legal terminology and multijurisdictional legal claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional English grammar and analytical expertise.

Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with UTBMS task coding and legal billing practices.
  • Prior experience working in appeals mediation or similar legal contexts.
  • Expertise in leveraging AI tools for process improvement.
