Job Title

Business Application & Quality Analyst II

Job Summary

The Business Application & Quality Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements for assigned projects and systems. This position serves as a liaison between Information Technology (IT) and the business area(s) on projects and initiatives. This position works with multiple business departments to review identified needs for various business functions with the goal of identifying business application solutions available to meet those needs.

Essential Functions

(Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities)

  • Conducts impact assessments to understand business and application implications to requests being considered. Interviews any impacted functional area to ensure requirements are gathered.
  • Independently creates documentation of business requirements for all projects, including use cases.
  • Collaborates with project team in defining possible solutions to business needs.
  • Works directly with the IT development staff throughout life cycle to ensure system modifications are correctly implemented.
  • Provides input into technology, processes, and templates to support test planning and execution
  • Prepares for and leads or participates in defect triage meetings, provides status updates for testing activities, and engages with project team to support defect remediation
  • Understands and applies basic project management skills on medium-sized projects.
  • Possesses an organizational understanding across all lines of business and applies this understanding to each project, problem, or assigned tasks.
  • Identifies opportunities and implements process improvements at a cross-departmental level.
  • Conducts training and presentations to users that utilize the products and solutions
  • Defines processes and procedures to align with IT testing policies
  • Supports impact assessments to understand business and application implications to requests being considered.
  • Organizes and leads small to medium project requirement meetings.
  • Under guidance, creates documentation of business requirements for small and medium-sized projects, including use cases.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization's business functions, IT staff, and vendors.
  • Conducts daily performance monitoring of business applications in production
  • Writes test cases to meet functional requirements
  • Creates testing plans for initiatives under leadership of senior staff
  • Carries out test execution, defect tracking, and logging of functional testing
  • Logs defects and collaborates with project team on remediation and revalidation efforts
  • Supports and coordinates UAT testing activities on IT related initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in IT, Business, or related field and 4 years' related work experience OR a combination of education and equivalent work experience as determined by HR
  • 2 of the 4 years' experience must be in gathering business requirements and creating use cases
  • Intermediate understanding of IT systems, platforms, and data flow
  • Understanding of systems development life cycle
  • General testing processes and methodologies
  • Strong and effective written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Business
  • Ability to manage and communicate with various stakeholders
  • Ability to direct and maintain a productive and conducive working environment
  • Ability to coordinate activities among co-workers, vendors, and peers
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Healthcare and/or Medicare experience

  • Office environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
