Overview

The Quality Coordinator and Nursing Practice Specialist is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of processes related to nursing clinical quality, professional development and performance excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides tactical leadership and is accountable for planning, managing, and monitoring assigned nursing quality improvement, professional practice, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Champions Nursing peer review, coordinates inpatient nursing data submission and outcome dissemination of NDNQI measures.
  • Design and implement reliable systems to support evidence-based care to improve clinical outcomes and patient safety. Establishes measures to monitor effective care practices are operationalized in providing patient care.
  • Manage efforts to identify opportunities for optimization, standardization, and continuous quality improvement based on evidence-based practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements as well as monitoring high risk, high volume and/or problem prone processes.
  • Serves as an active leader and facilitator of Nursing Quality Assurance & Shared Governance Council and related taskforces and committee functions, represents nursing issues at health system Clinical Quality Resource Committee(CQRC).
  • Participates with hospital and physician leadership in decision-making and acts as a liaison with other departments as it relates to ongoing nursing quality and professional practice.
  • Collaborates with QM team members to address Department of Health, CMS, Joint Commission, and other external agencies requirements in carrying out departmental duties associated with site quality & patient safety performance.
  • Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff. Champions a culture of engagement, quality and safety. Leads, coaches and mentors nursing staff. Creates a positive environment where employees can excel in the delivery of exceptional patient care. Builds a learning organization that enables employees to realize their highest potential.
  • Directs the periodic review, revision and development of all nursing related policies coordinating with stakeholders to ensure most relevant data pertaining to nursing practice is published and disseminated .
  • Educates CQI team members in the health system’s PI model, in addition to the use of CQI tools and techniques and assures teams are keeping within the boundaries of external regulations and standards, and meeting the defined goal of the team. Provides technical support in collecting, analyzing, displaying data, as well as communicating the implementation plan to the necessary interprofessional departments.

Required education:

  • Associates in Nursing

Required experience:

  • 3 years nursing experience
