About The Job

Utah-based materials engineering firm seeks ICC Certified Special Inspectors and CWI Inspectors for concrete, masonry, steel, and welding. Since 1978, they have delivered full-service engineering, inspection, and lab testing to clients in education, defense, commercial, and government sectorscommitted to accurate, timely, and personalized results.

What Youll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Special Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring construction projects meet strict regulatory and safety standards. Your work helps ensure the integrity, safety, and compliance of vital infrastructure.

Daily Duties Include:

• On-Site Testing & Inspection: Conduct detailed inspections and material testing on concrete, masonry, structural steel, welding, and fireproofing applications.

• Code Compliance: Verify construction practices and materials meet relevant building codes, project specifications, and industry standards (ICC, IBC, etc.).

• Reporting: Prepare clear, concise, and accurate inspection reports and test results. Ensure documentation reflects field conditions and follows company standards.

• Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret structural drawings, project plans, and engineering specifications to verify compliance in the field.

• Communication: Act as a liaison between field teams and stakeholders. Promptly report findings to Project Managers, Engineers, Contractors, and Testing Technicians.

• Recordkeeping: Submit daily timesheets and data forms. Maintain accurate project logs and inspection records for all assigned jobs.

• Equipment Care: Maintain testing equipment and company vehicle in line with company policies.

• Professionalism: Represent CMT with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a professional appearance and demeanor on every job site.

What You Bring: Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (required)

• Strong grasp of written instructions, safety protocols, and field calculations

• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work at heights up to 100

• Minimum 13 years of field inspection experience preferred

• Recommendations from three Project Managers (or equivalent experience)

• Must possess or be actively working toward ICC Certifications in one or more of the following:

  • Reinforced Concrete

  • Structural Masonry

  • Structural Steel & Welding

  • Spray-Applied Fireproofing

  • Soils (for soil density testing)

• CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification a plus

• Pay: $28.00 $32.00 per hour, depending on certifications and experience
