Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with government emission standards and other industry-related regulations for the U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board. Duties include analyzing, creating, and submitting required reports for regulatory agencies, monitoring compliance risks, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to federal and state requirements. The Compliance Engineer will also provide oversight of product validation, compliance documentation, and regulatory reporting processes. Essential Duties: Prepare and submit emissions compliance reports to regulatory agencies. Ensure all Compliance Reports are properly analyzed, validated, verified, and submitted while ensuring report submission deadlines as per government regulatory requirements. Identify, track, and monitor all emission reduction opportunities. Participate in design reviews for all pertinent programs associated with their customer base and provide pertinent insight and lessons learned from a warranty perspective. Work across multiple internal departments and personnel to gather data and information as needed. Provides consistent and proactive awareness of required changes to the internal compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines based on change in any applicable laws, regulations, rules, reliability standards, industry standards, etc. Oversee and validate product testing and ensure accurate record-keeping. Review all documentation being submitted for recalls or investigations and approve the submission. Utilize findings from claim data analysis to populate a monthly warranty scorecard. Manage and ensure lessons are captured in controlled documents, e.g. control plans, FMEAs (Design and Process), operator instructions, design guidelines, etc. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Required Knowledge Strong understanding of EPA, CARB, and NHTSA regulations. Knowledge of compliance reporting requirements and emission control technologies. Knowledge of federal and state incentive programs, i.e., HVIP is a plus. Skills & Abilities High attention to detail and data accuracy. Intermediate computer skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Excellent written and verbal communication. Adaptability. Leadership attributes and interpersonal skills. Education, Experience, and/or Required Licenses: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of related experience. Experience with and knowledge of government bodies related to this position, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and California Air Resources Board (CARB) preferred.
