QC Technician Ready Mix Concrete

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality control tests on ready-mix concrete, including slump, air content, unit weight, and strength testing.
  • Sample and test raw materials such as aggregates, cement, and admixtures for compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor concrete batch processes to ensure consistency and adherence to mix designs.
  • Document and analyze test results, identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or deviations.
  • Work closely with plant operators, drivers, and contractors to resolve quality concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in developing and modifying concrete mix designs to meet project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and company-specific quality standards.
  • Maintain calibration and proper operation of testing equipment.
  • Conduct job site inspections to evaluate concrete performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Support the implementation of quality control and safety policies and procedures.
  • Enter test data into data management system
  • Follow proper company policies, procedures, laws, and regulations including OSHA safety and quality standards

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates or bachelors degree in construction materials, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete quality control, construction materials testing, or a related field preferred.
  • ACI (American Concrete Institute) or TxDOT certifications preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and generate reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly outside and exposed to various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures and rain/snow conditions.
  • Required PPE includes safety shoes above ankles, safety vests, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hats. Additional PPE required if performing special jobs.
  • Valid drivers license with a clear driving record.
